The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that continuous voter registration and the regular revision of the voters’ roll will begin on Monday, September 29, 2025. In a special issue of the Kenya Gazette published on August 28, 2025, IEBC Chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon stated that Kenyans will now have the opportunity to register as voters, move their registration to new electoral areas, update their details, or verify their records.
The commission emphasized that the exercise will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at all 290 constituency offices across the country, excluding public holidays. To qualify, citizens must be at least 18 years old and hold either a valid national identity card or passport. However, areas scheduled to hold by-elections will not conduct continuous registration or voter roll revisions.
IEBC also noted that separate arrangements will be announced for Kenyans living abroad and prisoners, ensuring that no eligible voter is left out of the process. This latest move underscores the commission’s commitment to keeping the electoral register up to date as the country inches closer to its next general election cycle.
