For the third time in recent months, Dr. FSC Koki Muli Grignon has once again made headlines by breezing through yet another vetting process. This time, she secured a pivotal role on the newly appointed Selection Panel tasked with hunting for Kitui County’s senior administrative officials.

In a special sitting on Wednesday evening, the Kitui County Assembly unanimously approved the five-member Selection Panel that will oversee the crucial task of appointing the County Secretary, County Attorney, and Secretary to the County Public Service Board. Dr. Koki Muli, already a well-known figure in vetting circles, was among the nominees who emerged with glowing endorsements from the County Assembly’s Appointments Committee.

Migwani MCA and Majority Leader Hon. Harrison Maluki, who is a member of the committee, praised the panel for meeting the strict standards of integrity and expertise required for such a critical mandate. He highlighted how each nominee, including Dr. Muli, demonstrated not only deep technical knowledge but also a strong grasp of the administrative challenges facing the county.
The panel brings together a mix of professionals with backgrounds in governance, engineering, finance, and diplomacy. Their collective expertise positions them well to navigate the complex process of selecting the best candidates to lead Kitui’s county government.

Dr. Koki Muli’s recurring success in vetting processes has sparked intense debate throughout Kitui’s political landscape. Admirers see her as a rising star bringing much-needed accountability and professionalism to county leadership. Critics, however, question the extent of her influence, suggesting that her continuous presence in key political appointments could signal an emerging power bloc.
In a related development, the Assembly also approved the Kitui County Supplementary Appropriation II Bill, 2025, authorizing additional funds to support county projects for the remainder of the financial year. Still, this fiscal decision took a backseat to the headline-grabbing appointments.

The County Assembly has now adjourned to allow members to engage in public participation and sectoral review of the 2025/26 Annual Budget Estimates, with sittings set to resume on June 17, 2025.
Channel 15 News will continue monitoring this story and its implications for the future of governance in Kitui County.
