    Drama in Court as Suspect in Kasipul MP Murder Case Threatens to Kill Prosecutor

    A tense and chilling atmosphere gripped Kibera High Court today as suspects linked to the gruesome murder of Kasipul MP Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were threatened violence against court officials, sparking shock and outrage.

    Justice Diana Mochache refused to grant bond to three suspects — William Imoli Shigali, Edwin Odoury Odhiambo, and Ebel Ochieng, also known as Dave Calo — after one of them issued a direct threat to a prosecutor handling the high-profile case.

    Court proceedings took a dramatic turn during a brief recess when court orderly officers revealed that Ebel Ochieng had aggressively inquired about the identity of the prosecutor. According to testimony in court, Ochieng threatened to kill the prosecutor for opposing their bail application, raising serious security concerns.

    The late Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were, former Kasipul Member of Parliament, whose brutal murder on April 30, 2025, shocked the nation. Court proceedings into his killing took a dramatic twist today after one of the suspects threatened to kill a prosecutor in open court, prompting Justice Diana Mochache to deny them bond and order a mental assessment.

    Following the revelation, Justice Mochache ordered that all three suspects be remanded at Nairobi Industrial Remand Centre pending comprehensive mental health assessments at Mathari Hospital. The suspects will remain in custody as investigations and evaluations continue.

    The case is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions (SADPP) Gikui Gichuhi and Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions (ADPP) Allen Mulama.

    Two More Suspects Face Charges at Milimani High Court

    In a related development, two additional suspects — Isaac Kuria, alias Kush, and Allan Omondi Ogola — appeared before Milimani High Court to answer to murder charges. The suspects’ plea was deferred by Lady Justice M. Muigai following a similar request by the prosecution, led by Ms. Jacinta Nyamosi, Evelyne Onunga, Allen Mulama, and Millicent Kigira, pending their mental assessments.

    The suspects have been remanded at Kamiti Prison, with their cases scheduled for further mention on June 18, 2025.

    The Brutal Killing That Shook Nairobi

    The suspects, along with others still at large, stand accused of brutally murdering Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were on the night of April 30, 2025. The killing took place at the City Mortuary Roundabout along Ngong Road in Kilimani Sub-County, Nairobi, sending shockwaves across the nation.

    As the case unfolds, the judiciary remains vigilant amid rising tensions, ensuring that justice is served while safeguarding all participants from potential threats.
