The National Liberal Party (NLP) has kicked off a massive recruitment drive in Kitui County, marking the beginning of what party officials say is a new era in regional politics.

Today’s launch saw the NLP caravan make stops at Wikililye, Katulani, Maliku, and Kavisuni, where residents turned out in large numbers to welcome the party’s mobilization teams. The reception was overwhelmingly positive, with locals expressing optimism about the party’s agenda and future in the region.

Speaking during the launch, local NLP coordinators praised Kitui residents for their enthusiasm, saying it was a sign that the party’s message of unity and change was resonating. “The people of Kitui have shown that they are ready for a new political direction — one that champions development, inclusivity, and unity in the Lower Eastern region,” one organizer said.

The highlight of the recruitment drive will come tomorrow, April 24, when NLP party leader Dr. Augustus Muli officially flags off the countywide registration exercise from Kalundu in Kitui Town. Dr. Muli is expected to address the public and outline the party’s vision for transforming the region’s political landscape.

NLP’s message is clear: the party is here to stay. With mounting support from the grassroots, NLP hopes to solidify its presence across Kitui and the broader Lower Eastern region as it gears up for the 2027 general elections.

Residents interviewed called for political unity among leaders in the region and hailed NLP as a fresh force that could unite and empower communities long neglected by traditional political outfits.
