Kalonzo Musyoka Leads Legal Onslaught to Secure Bail for ‘Babayao’ Waititu in Courtroom Showdown

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka is currently leading a high-powered legal team at the Milimani High Court, Nairobi, in a dramatic push to secure bail for embattled former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand ‘Babayao’ Waititu.

In a surprising show of political muscle and legal might, Kalonzo has teamed up with renowned advocates Ndegwa Njiru, and Kibe Mungai as they battle to free Waititu pending the hearing of his appeal against a corruption conviction.

Kalonzo’s presence at the court has sparked intense speculation over the political undercurrents at play, with analysts reading a possible Mt. Kenya–Eastern alliance shaping up ahead of the 2027 elections.

“I am here to stand for justice and fairness. Everyone deserves a chance to appeal and access bail. That is what we are demanding for Waititu today,” Kalonzo tells the press outside the court, attracting a crowd of curious onlookers and political loyalists.

Waititu, a once-powerful Mt. Kenya governor, was jailed last month over graft charges linked to a multi-million-shilling county project. His incarceration has rattled his supporters, many of whom view the case as politically instigated.

Sources intimate that Kalonzo’s move signals more than just legal support — it is a calculated political statement aimed at courting Mt. Kenya voters disillusioned with the current regime.

The court is expected to rule on the bail application later today, with the outcome likely to send ripples across Kenya’s political landscape.
