Shock and grief have engulfed Ngorongo village in Gatundu North after the lifeless body of Rosemary Njeri Ndekei, a 22-year-old university student, was found brutally murdered and dumped in a coffee plantation at the Karibaribi area near Thika town.

The young woman, who had been reported missing by her family, was last seen on Saturday in Thika town. According to relatives, Rosemary had informed them she was heading to visit a friend along Ruiru Bypass — but she never made it back home.
Her decomposing body was discovered on Monday morning by workers at the Karibaribi coffee plantation, sparking fear and outrage among locals. Preliminary reports indicated that Njeri might have been murdered elsewhere before her body was dumped at the secluded farm.

“She left home happy, saying she was going to meet a friend. It is painful to find her in this state,” a family member painfully recounted.
The exact circumstances surrounding Njeri’s death remain unclear, but authorities suspect foul play and have launched investigations. Detectives from Thika are piecing together her last moments, including tracking the ‘friend’ she was visiting.

Residents have since called for swift action, demanding justice for the slain young woman whose life was cut short in the most gruesome manner.
“We are living in fear. If a young girl can leave home and be found murdered like this, no one is safe. We want the killers brought to book,” a local elder said.
Police have urged anyone with information that could aid investigations to come forward. The body was moved to Thika Level 5 Hospital Mortuary as investigations intensify.
Njeri’s tragic death adds to the growing number of mysterious killings in the region, raising questions about the safety of young women in Kiambu County.
