South Mbeere residents took matters into their own hands in the early hours of the morning, unleashing mob justice on three men suspected of stealing cows in Kirima Mbeti. The suspects, who were on board a Toyota Probox, were cornered by vigilant watchmen before an enraged crowd descended upon them.

According to eyewitnesses, the trio had parked their car suspiciously in the area, raising alarm among locals. When confronted, two of the men attempted to flee on foot but were quickly apprehended. The third suspect, however, bore the full brunt of the mob’s wrath, suffering severe injuries before law enforcement officers intervened just in time to save his life.
In a dramatic twist, the mob set the suspects’ Probox ablaze, reducing it to a smoldering shell in a fiery display of fury. The situation could have turned even more tragic had the police not arrived promptly to rescue the battered men.
The three were taken into custody and are currently being processed, pending their arraignment in court. Authorities have urged residents to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and instead allow legal channels to handle crime-related matters.
This latest incident highlights the growing frustrations among locals over rising cases of livestock theft in South Mbeere, with many calling for tougher measures to curb the vice.
