The curtains have fallen on the Kitui County Term One Ball Games, hosted at Kitui School in Kitui Central Sub-County, with defending champions Ikutha Girls stamping their authority in basketball.

Ikutha Girls retained their county basketball title in dominant fashion, thrashing Mbitini Girls 61-13 in the finals. The commanding victory underscored their superiority on the court, as they dismantled their opponents with precision and tactical brilliance. The investment in their state-of-the-art basketball court, unveiled earlier this year, is paying dividends as the school cements its legacy in the sport.

In the boys’ basketball final, hosts Kitui School delivered an emphatic performance, making light work of Mwingi Boys with a 64-16 victory to claim the county title.

    Thrilling Battles in Other Finals:

The handball boys’ final saw Kanzau take an early lead against Gankanga with fast breaks and solid defense. Despite a spirited comeback attempt by Gankanga, Kanzau maintained their dominance, eventually sealing a 30-14 victory to lift the title.

In the handball girls’ final, Simisi (Ikutha) showcased sheer determination against Masyungwa (Tseikuru). The game remained competitive in the first half, but Simisi pulled away in the second half, capitalizing on quick turnovers and clinical finishing to emerge victorious with a 23-11 scoreline.

Rugby 15s provided a thrilling encounter, with Kitui School locking horns with Gai Secondary. From the onset, Kitui School dictated the pace, using their structured play and powerful scrummaging to neutralize Gai’s attack. A relentless offensive display saw Kitui School secure a commanding 24-00 win, marking their supremacy in the tournament.

With such thrilling matches, the tournament showcased the growing competitiveness and talent in Kitui County’s school sports. Congratulations to all the winners and participants for an outstanding display of skill and sportsmanship!
