A middle-aged woman and two minors are nursing serious injuries at a local hospital after surviving a grisly road accident at Malaa area in Matungulu Sub-County along the Tala–Nairobi Road.

According to witnesses, the victims were travelling in a saloon car that collided head-on with a speeding lorry at a sharp bend. The impact left the vehicle mangled, prompting good Samaritans to rush to the scene and help rescue the victims before police arrived.

Confirming the incident, area traffic officers attributed the crash to reckless driving and overspeeding, noting that the stretch near Malaa has become a notorious blackspot.

The injured were taken to Kangundo Level 4 Hospital where they are receiving treatment, while the wreckage of both vehicles was towed to Tala Police Station as investigations continue.

Residents have called on the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to erect road safety signs and speed bumps along the section to curb rising cases of accidents.
