123 students from St. Charles Lwanga, St. Ursula Girls and Engineer Ngilu have been confirmed received during the first anniversary of Mr Tonny Wood’s death, an educationalist who founded St Charles Lwanga-Kitui.

In his sermon, the head of the Catholic church in Kitui , Bishop Joseph Mwongela called on students to emulate St. Charles Lwanga and inspire others to live great and holy lives.

Mwongela further warned students on the dangers of drug and substance abuse, which can ruin their lives and studies, and called on teachers to be role models and guide students according.

The community also marked the first death anniversary of the illustrious former Principal of St. Charles Lwanga, Mr. Tony Woods, who passed away on May 25, 2023.

Mr. Tony Woods, an Irish lay missionary arrived in Kitui at the age of 24 in 1968. He was renowned for his nearly three-decade tenure at St. Charles Lwanga, which he helped build from the ground up into one of the nation’s academic powerhouses. He dedicated his life to educating and shaping generations of students, many of whom became prominent figures in politics, the armed forces, the judiciary, the private sector, and the diaspora.
