The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced a nationwide initiative to enforce road safety compliance ahead of the reopening of schools on Monday, August 26, 2024.
The campaign, which has already begun, involves heightened inspections on all major roads to ensure that vehicles, particularly those involved in school transport, meet the required safety standards.

The NTSA, in collaboration with the police, is focusing on several key areas, including checking for valid road service licenses, functioning speed limiters, and ensuring that seat belts are in good condition. Additionally, random sobriety tests are being conducted to curb drunk driving.
This effort is part of a broader strategy aimed at reducing road accidents by 50% by 2028, in line with the recently launched National Road Safety Action Plan.
The NTSA’s campaign will continue throughout the week, with checkpoints set up in various locations across the country
