Parliament will intensify efforts to bring its work closer to the people, Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) Commissioners have announced.
During an inspection tour of the PSC stand ahead of the Mombasa A.S.K Show 2025, Commissioner Senator Johnstone Muthama and Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga, who chairs the Committee on Information and Public Communication (IPC), said Parliament is committed to educating Kenyans on its mandate.

The PSC stand features a mock Parliament and simplified displays on how the House shapes the national budget and executes its legislative, representative, and oversight roles.

“We cannot serve our people well if they don’t understand our mandate. Parliament’s services are delivered for the people and for posterity,” said Hon. Wamatinga, pledging to increase outreach programs to enhance civic awareness.

Senator Muthama noted the growing interest among Kenyans—particularly students—who are keen to learn about the inner workings of Parliament beyond simply knowing their MPs.
“The Mombasa Show has given us an opportunity to show Kenyans what Parliament actually does. The slogan ‘Connecting Parliament with the People’ will be amplified here,” Muthama said.

The Mombasa A.S.K Show opens tomorrow, Tuesday, September 2, 2025, with the judging of exhibition stands in various categories. The PSC Commissioners say they are determined to use this platform to strengthen the bond between elected leaders and the citizens who entrusted them with power.
