The Kenyan music industry is once again in turmoil after Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) CEO Ezekiel Mutua called out Ndeke Ya Muthanga, the protégé and talent-raised son of gospel singer Stella Mengele, over a controversial song filled with unprincipled lyrics.

In a fiery statement, Mutua condemned the track, labeling it “obscene, vulgar, and an extreme case of moral decay.”

“I am inundated with calls regarding a video by one of the Kamba artists, which, by any natural interpretation, is obscene and vulgar in the extreme. Some of these artists do crazy things for clout because consumers thrive on such filth. This is not music; it is pure madness, and the author and those celebrating such obscenity must be called out,” Mutua said.

The statement comes just days after Stella Mengele led an outcry against Oga Obinna, demanding respect for women in the entertainment industry. Now, the tables have turned, with critics questioning whether she will take a stand against her own protégé’s controversial lyrics.

Ezekiel Mutua: “Music Doesn’t Have to Be Dirty to Sell”

Mutua emphasized that relevant authorities are being consulted to take legal action, warning that the industry cannot allow such vulgar content to flourish.

“If we keep normalizing obscenities in the name of music, we have no future. Artists must understand they have a duty to build society, not destroy it. We are mentoring our artists to produce quality music, but if our advice is ignored, then the law must take its course,” he stated.

    Will Stella Mengele Respond?

With the heat now on Stella Mengele’s camp, fans and industry stakeholders are eagerly waiting for her response.

🔹 Will she distance herself from Ndeke Ya Muthanga’s song or defend his artistic freedom?
🔹 Should artists be held accountable for explicit lyrics, or is censorship a step too far?
🔹 Will the authorities take action against the controversial track?

As Ezekiel Mutua prepares to issue a comprehensive statement, one thing is clear—Kenyan music has found itself in yet another moral showdown. Stay tuned for updates!
