Kitui South MP Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai is once again in the public spotlight after a hacking incident targeting her phone and M-PESA account drew not only concern but also a wave of sarcastic reactions from her constituents.
On Thursday, her media team issued an urgent alert confirming that unknown hackers had gained access to the legislator’s phone and made unauthorized withdrawals from her M-PESA account. Constituents were urged to ignore any suspicious calls or messages purportedly from the MP.

“Please be advised that Dr. Hon. Rachel Kaki’s phone has been hacked. The hackers have already made unauthorized withdrawals from her M-PESA account. Do not respond to any calls or messages asking for money, and do not share personal or financial information,” the statement read.
The team further urged the public to share the alert widely across local networks and community groups.
But even as the warning circulated, Kitui South residents responded with a blend of frustration, satire, and biting humor — many using the incident to express deeper grievances about stalled development in the region.
A widely shared reaction summed up the mood:
“Hivo ndo tunaskianga tukikosa maendeleo Kitui South 👏”
Others were more direct, with some residents openly mocking the MP:
John Mulaa wrote: “DR. Rachael Kaki CBS….. Those hackers have done their excellence….. Hata wangehack mpaka matako yako.”
Pius Mulwa added: “They should have hacked your bank accounts where you have hidden CDF funds meant for development.”
Joseph Mutisya joked: “Si kalisema kanajua kuomba vitu? Si kaombe hackers kapewe pesa back!”
These reactions reflect a growing dissatisfaction among locals who claim that the constituency’s development agenda has stalled, despite repeated promises. Poor roads, delayed CDF projects, and persistent water shortages continue to dominate public conversations.

Dr. Kaki’s team has not disclosed the financial extent of the hacking or whether the matter has been formally reported to investigative authorities, but they insist steps are being taken to secure her communication systems.
The incident has reignited debate over leadership accountability, digital safety, and whether Kitui South is receiving the development it deserves.
