Kitui, Kenya — In a significant move for Kitui County, the Assembly Service Board, under the leadership of Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya, has officially handed over the site for the construction of a new seven-storey office block to the appointed contractor. The project, set to house offices for all Honorable Members of the Assembly and its staff, marks a critical milestone in modernizing the Assembly’s operations.
The office block, which was first proposed during the 2018/2019 financial year, saw its tender advertised in 2021. The contract was finally awarded this year to Centurion Engineers and Builders Limited, with the project expected to take approximately two years to complete.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Speaker expressed confidence in the contractor, who assured the public that the project will be delivered in the shortest time possible without compromising on quality. The contractor also promised to involve local residents, a move that is expected to boost the local economy.
In his remarks, Speaker Katisya emphasized that the modern office space would greatly improve the working conditions for Assembly members and staff, thereby enhancing efficiency in service delivery to the people of Kitui. He further called for support from the Executive Government, Members of the Assembly, staff, and the people of Kitui, stressing that the project’s success will be shared by all stakeholders involved.
“By providing our members and staff with modern office space, we are not only improving working conditions but also promoting efficiency and effectiveness in the discharge of our duties,” said Speaker Katisya.
The Kitui community eagerly anticipates the completion of this project, which is set to revolutionize the operations of the County Assembly and benefit the larger Kitui County.
