Kitui County Assembly Speaker Hon. Kelvin Kinengo has thrown down the gauntlet in a fiery radio interview, daring the Wiper Party to make good on their alleged threats to impeach him. In a blunt and emotionally charged appearance on Musyi FM’s Breakfast Show hosted by Sir Mwenge Mwenge, Kinengo accused his former political home of intimidation, betrayal, and personal sabotage.

“They should not sell fear to me, because I don’t buy it. Politics of blackmailing leaders to sing to your worship and praise songs are bygone.”
The once-loyal Kalonzo Musyoka ally confirmed what had long been whispered in political corridors — that top Wiper Party operatives are plotting his removal from office following his public decision to work with President William Ruto’s government to push development in Kitui County.
“They are not God. My God will fight for me. They should not view themselves as political gods who should be bowed to every time — and if not, they harass us.”

Kinengo didn’t stop there. He blasted the party’s leadership for failing to support his political journey, revealing that Wiper had fronted their own candidate in the Speaker’s race — and had begun plotting his downfall from the very day he won.
“From the moment I was elected, they started scheming to remove me. They never believed in me. So I won’t apologize for choosing to stand with the people and the government that’s bringing them roads, electricity, and jobs.”
On recent claims by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka that Kinengo has been politically backbiting him, the Speaker dismissed the accusations as diversionary.

“Kalonzo has never supported me politically. I owe him nothing,” Kinengo stated, further intensifying the political standoff.
Amid the storm, Kinengo made it clear that he stands by Kitui MCAs who have chosen to collaborate with the national government for development, saying they won’t be silenced by tribal or party-based threats.
At the same time, Kinengo reiterated his full support for Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe’s administration, but with a firm warning.

“We will support the Governor to deliver on his promises, but we will also do our job. Oversight must be done properly, budgets must be scrutinized and passed responsibly — and no one should interfere with how the Assembly runs.”
With this open declaration of war against his former political base, Kinengo has now positioned himself as one of the face of a growing rebellion within Ukambani politics — one that could have long-term ramifications for Wiper’s dominance in the region.
