    Renowned journalist Janet Mbugua has made a triumphant return to television after an eight-year hiatus. The former Citizen TV news anchor has joined Nation Media Group (NMG), a development announced by NMG’s Head of Broadcasting, Simaloi Dajom, who lauded Mbugua’s exceptional ability to engage audiences across TV, radio, and digital platforms.

    Janet Mbugua’s illustrious career began at the age of 19 with Nairobi’s Capital FM. She later became the host of the popular travel show Out and About on KTN, eventually rising to the position of prime-time news anchor. Her talents took her to South Africa in 2009, where she worked with e.tv as a news anchor, reporter, and producer. In 2011, she returned to Kenya, joining Citizen TV as a prime-time news anchor until her departure in 2017.

    Beyond the newsroom, Mbugua has been a fervent advocate for gender equality, focusing on menstrual health and access to education for girls. She founded the Inua Dada Foundation, which has been instrumental in promoting menstrual equality and supporting young girls’ education.

    Her return to mainstream media has been met with widespread acclaim. Colleagues and fans alike have expressed their excitement, anticipating the impactful journalism and insightful storytelling that Mbugua is known for. Her comeback is not just a personal victory but a significant moment for Kenyan media, promising to inspire a new generation of journalists.
