Transport along the Tseikuru-Mwingi Road has been paralyzed for the better part of today following the ongoing heavy downpour in the region. Travelers have been left stranded as vehicles struggle to navigate the muddy and waterlogged road.

Speaking to Channel 15 News via phone, a source revealed that a matatu belonging to the Lolo Sacco got stuck at least three times during the journey. The vehicle, which had been stuck for close to three hours, was eventually freed with the help of local residents who worked tirelessly to create a makeshift path.

Peter Mutiso, a resident of Tseikuru who was aboard the matatu, expressed his frustration with both the local and national governments, blaming them for neglecting the condition of the road. “The government has done very little to ensure our roads are passable, especially during the rainy season,” he lamented.

The heavy rains have disrupted transport and commerce in the area, with residents calling for urgent action to improve road infrastructure. This is not the first time the Tseikuru-Mwingi route has been rendered impassable due to adverse weather, raising concerns over the lack of preparedness by authorities.

Locals have urged leaders to prioritize road maintenance and construction to ensure that such inconveniences are avoided in the future. For now, residents are left at the mercy of community goodwill to navigate the treacherous roads.
