Two key appeal cases involving the nomination of Augustus Kyalo Muli to the IEBC Selection Committee will be heard today at 2 PM. The virtual hearing, presided over by Lady Justice Janet Mulwa, involves two separate but related cases.
The first case, HCCA/E1056/2024, has been filed by Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition alongside Grignon Koki Muli against Augustus Kyalo Muli. This appeal challenges Muli’s nomination to represent small parties in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Selection Committee.
In a parallel case, HCCA/E1081/2024, the Parliamentary Service Commission is contesting Muli’s nomination in a suit labeled PJS vs Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli.
Both cases have sparked significant interest as they challenge the legitimacy and transparency of the IEBC selection process. The outcome of today’s hearing is highly anticipated, as it may impact the future composition of the IEBC Selection Panel.
