Wiper Patriotic Front MP aspirant Michael Kavate Kanyanya has joined party leader Kalonzo Musyoka at a thanksgiving service in Kamikau, Tharaka Ward, as political activity gathers pace ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Kavate attended the Seventh-day Adventist Church service on Saturday, October 24, where Kalonzo joined hundreds of congregants for prayers of thanksgiving and intercession for the nation.

Kitui County Woman Representative Irene Kasalu also attended the service, bringing together political leaders and worshippers for a gathering dedicated to thanksgiving and prayer for the country.
Kavate’s presence alongside Kalonzo comes as he pursues the Wiper ticket for the Mwingi North parliamentary seat, where he is seeking to challenge incumbent MP Paul Nzengu in the next general election.
The aspirant has been building his political profile through grassroots networks and engagement with communities across the constituency, emerging as one of the figures seeking the party’s nomination.

His appearance alongside Kalonzo also highlights his engagement with the Wiper leadership as aspirants position themselves ahead of the party’s nomination process.
The Mwingi North contest is expected to be an important test of the party’s internal nomination process, with the eventual flag bearer set to face voters in the 2027 General Election.
While Kavate’s participation in the Kamikau service places him alongside the party leader at a public event, it does not in itself constitute an endorsement or confirmation of the Wiper ticket.
As the election approaches, attention will increasingly turn to the aspirants’ grassroots mobilisation, party support and ability to consolidate their political bases in the constituency.
