The National Police Service (NPS) has deployed reinforcements to Tseikuru Sub-county following a fresh wave of violent attacks that have left several people dead and heightened tensions between the Kamba and Somali communities.
In a press statement issued from Police Headquarters, the Service expressed deep concern over what it termed as a disturbing pattern of retaliatory violence that has now escalated into repeated bloodshed within the region.
According to the chronology provided by police, the cycle of violence began on 29th March 2026, when a 44-year-old Kamba herdsman was killed near Mwingi Game Reserve.

The latest incident occurred on 25th April 2026 in Kwa Kamari area of Tseikuru, where seven people were killed, all believed to be from the Kamba community. The attack has intensified fears of escalating communal tensions in the region.
The NPS strongly condemned the killings, describing them as senseless and unnecessary loss of life that must be stopped immediately.

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja has dispatched a high-level security team led by Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Eliud Lagat, who is already on the ground in Tseikuru coordinating security operations. Additional reinforcement units have also been deployed to stabilize the area and prevent further escalation.
Police have further confirmed that a comprehensive investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the attacks and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

At the same time, the Service has urged residents to remain calm and avoid retaliatory actions, warning that continued violence could further destabilize the region.
Community leaders have also been called upon to take a leading role in promoting peace and reconciliation, as security agencies move to restore order.
The National Police Service reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order, saying it will not relent until peace is fully restored in the affected areas.
