A political storm is brewing in Kitui County after a section of youths launched a scathing attack on Mwingi Central MP Hon. Gideon Mulyungi, accusing him of divided loyalty and betrayal of the Wiper Democratic Movement.
Led by outspoken Kitui West youth activist and emerging politician Mukungu Muingo, popularly known as Suvivya, the charged youths claimed the legislator is “playing a dangerous double game” by maintaining ties with both Wiper and the ruling UDA camp.
In a strongly worded statement, the group questioned Mulyungi’s allegiance to Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, warning that his actions could undermine the party’s unity in the Ukambani region ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“You cannot serve two masters. The people of Kitui deserve clarity. Is Hon. Mulyungi still in Wiper, or is he negotiating deals elsewhere?” posed Suvivya.
Claims of Secret Political Dealings
The youths further alleged that the MP is quietly positioning himself in a broader রাজনৈতিক scheme, reportedly seeking to be a running mate to a yet-to-be-declared gubernatorial candidate in Kitui. They now want him to publicly address the claims and come clean on his political ambitions.
According to the group, such alleged backdoor dealings not only betray Wiper supporters but also risk fracturing the party’s dominance in the region.

In a more explosive claim, the youths accused the MP of sponsoring a “Wiper splitter faction” and using intimidation tactics to silence dissenting voices, particularly targeting young activists.
They alleged that some youths who have publicly questioned his leadership style are facing legal threats and harassment, terming it a direct attack on freedom of expression.
“We cannot be silenced for speaking the truth. Leadership must be accountable, not oppressive,” they added.
The simmering discontent now threatens to spill into the streets, with the group warning of imminent demonstrations across Kitui County to protest what they described as “failed leadership and political deceit.”
They also called on voters in Mwingi Central to reconsider their support for the MP, accusing him of failing to deliver on key campaign promises.
“It is time for the people of Mwingi Central to say enough is enough. This kind of politics is a shame not just to the constituency, but to Wiper as a party,” the statement read.
The unfolding standoff now places Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka in a delicate position, with the youths urging him to urgently intervene and rein in what they termed as “rebellion from within.”
Political observers say how Kalonzo handles the situation could significantly shape Wiper’s internal cohesion and influence in Ukambani as early succession battles begin to take shape.
As tensions rise, amll eyes are now on Hon. Mulyungi to respond to the allegations—and on Wiper leadership to restore order before the cracks widen further.
