Two people have been seriously injured after a Kitui County ambulance crashed at Mavengeleni area, just a few metres from Mwala Junction along the busy Kitui–Machakos Highway.
The ambulance, belonging to Kitui County Referral Hospital, reportedly lost control and veered off the road while en route from Machakos to Kitui on Tuesday morning.
Police said the victims, a driver and a passenger, sustained serious injuries in the ambulance and were rushed to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment.
Authorities have launched investigations to establish the cause of the crash.
