Christmas Eve celebrations in Machakos town ended in tragedy after a 41-year-old nightclub bouncer was fatally shot following a heated altercation involving a couple outside a popular entertainment joint.

The deceased, identified as Dominic Munuve, was on duty at the club located directly opposite Total Petrol Station in Machakos town when chaos broke out inside the premises.

According to eyewitnesses, trouble started after a man and his girlfriend engaged in a loud argument that disrupted patrons inside the club. Munuve reportedly intervened and ejected the woman from the club in an attempt to restore order.

However, the move angered her male companion, triggering a heated confrontation outside the club that quickly escalated.
Witnesses told Channel 15 News that during the exchange, the man pulled out a pistol and shot the bouncer at close range, leaving him critically injured on the spot.

“There was shouting, then suddenly we heard gunshots. People scattered in panic as the bouncer fell,” said an eyewitness who requested anonymity for safety reasons.
Police officers from Machakos were alerted and rushed to the scene shortly after the shooting.

Confirming the incident, Machakos DCIO Nzioka Singi said detectives processed the scene and arrested two suspects linked to the altercation as investigations commenced.
“We were called in following a shooting incident involving a club bouncer. The victim was rushed to Machakos Level 5 Hospital in critical condition but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment,” Singi said.

The shooting has shocked residents and business owners in Machakos, raising fresh concerns over nightlife security, illegal firearms, and rising violent crime during the festive season.
Police have since launched a full investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including how the suspect acquired the firearm and whether it was legally owned.

As investigations continue, Munuve’s death has cast a dark cloud over Christmas celebrations, with colleagues describing him as a calm and dedicated worker who was simply enforcing club order when his life was brutally cut short.
