Police in Makindu, Makueni County, are investigating a shocking incident involving students that has left one dead and another fighting for his life.

According to preliminary reports, a scuffle erupted in one of the students’ rented apartments over what police suspect to be a love triangle gone wrong.

The deceased, a female KMTC student attached to Makindu Level 4 Hospital, was reportedly stabbed to death during the confrontation. Another student sustained deep stab wounds to the stomach and was rushed to Makindu Level 5 Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Reports indicate that the students involved in the deadly altercation are said to have returned from a party at a local bar shortly before the fight broke out.

Police have detained one of the students believed to have been at the scene as investigations continue to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the tragic love-fueled brawl.

Authorities and community leaders have condemned the incident, calling on young people to embrace emotional intelligence and peaceful conflict resolution, especially in matters of relationships.

“Love should never turn lethal. We must learn to talk through our differences and seek help when emotions run high,” said one of the area administrators.

The body of the deceased has been moved to the Makindu Hospital mortuary as police pursue leads into the tragedy that has shocked both the local community and the medical training fraternity.
