A Nairobi court has issued an arrest warrant against Juja Member of Parliament (MP) George Koimburi, after he failed to appear for arraignment over sensational claims that he faked his own abduction to evade a looming arrest over land fraud charges.

Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Hon. Ben Mark Ekhubi, four co-accused—including Kanyenya-ini Ward MCA Grace Nduta Wairimu—were present and pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to defeat the course of justice under Section 117(c) of the Penal Code.

According to the prosecution, the controversial incident occurred on May 25, 2025, in Mugutha area of Juja Sub-County, Kiambu, where Koimburi, in collusion with Peter Kiratu Muhia, David Macharia Gatana, Cyrus Keriu Muhia, and Grace Nduta Wairimu, allegedly orchestrated a staged abduction.

The move was reportedly intended to derail Koimburi’s scheduled arraignment at the Kiambu Law Courts, where he was to answer to four counts of land fraud.

In a twist that has raised eyebrows across the political landscape, co-accused Peter Kiratu Muhia faces an additional charge of giving false information to a public officer and publishing false reports, after allegedly filing a fake kidnapping report at Mugutha Police Station—a move that triggered unnecessary police operations based on lies.

While the second to fifth accused were released on a Ksh. 300,000 cash bail each, with three contact persons as sureties, the court issued warrants of arrest for the MP, as well as the sixth and seventh accused, who were absent during the court session.

The matter will be mentioned again on August 5, 2025, as authorities intensify efforts to trace the missing MP.
