Hundreds of faithful in Kitui town marked Good Friday with deep reverence as they joined Catholic Diocese of Kitui Bishop Joseph Mwongela in the traditional Way of the Cross procession, retracing the final steps of Jesus Christ.

The solemn procession began at Our Lady of Africa Cathedral, moving through Delta, Kaveta, and Kalundu, before returning to the Cathedral.

Along the route, the faithful stopped at various stations to reflect, pray, and meditate on the suffering and crucifixion of Christ—a powerful tradition that underscores the core of Christian belief.

In his homily, Bishop Mwongela called on Christians to draw strength from Christ’s suffering and to embrace patience and humility in the face of life’s trials.

“Just as Christ carried His cross with courage and love, we too are called to carry our crosses in faith and hope,” he said.

He encouraged believers to live out Christ’s example daily by practicing compassion, forgiveness, and selflessness in their families, workplaces, and communities.

The Good Friday procession remains one of the most emotionally stirring and spiritually charged moments in the Christian calendar. For many in Kitui, it served as a public demonstration of faith and a reminder of the enduring power of Christ’s sacrifice.
