“We’re Done Begging!” – NLP Leader Dr. Augustus Muli Sounds Political Warning Shot During Explosive Meeting in Kitui

The political drums are beating louder in Kitui after the National Liberal Party (NLP) held a high-octane meeting today at its county branch offices — a gathering that has sent ripples across the Lower Eastern political landscape.

Led by NLP Party Leader Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli, the party’s Kitui Executive officials convened to assess the just-concluded party registration drive that has been ongoing across Kitui County and parts of the Lower Eastern region. The results, according to insiders, were “more than encouraging” with thousands already enlisted as new NLP members.

But it was the political declarations that followed that stole the spotlight.

Addressing journalists shortly after the meeting, Dr. Muli was firm and fiery. “The Kamba nation has been short-changed for too long. Despite our numbers and loyalty, we have no Cabinet position from Kitui County. That ends today. We’re not begging anymore — we’re organizing.”

Dr. Muli revealed that NLP has resolved to partner with at least 12 other political parties from the Lower Eastern region to forge a unified political force aimed at reclaiming the community’s voice on the national stage.

In a bold move that is bound to rattle traditional political establishments, the Kitui NLP Executive vowed to field candidates in all elective seats — including the presidency — come 2027. “We are not just participating in 2027. We are positioning ourselves for takeover,” said one executive member.

Dr. Muli also announced that the party registration drive is now transitioning to the national level as NLP positions itself as a serious contender in the next general election.

He further emphasized the party’s commitment to economic justice for the region: “We will champion financial freedom for our people. We must get our fair share of the national cake. Come 2027, the Kamba community must not be left in the cold again while playing opposition politics.”

Notably, today’s meeting comes barely three days after an exclusive Channel 15 Digital News poll placed Dr. Augustus Muli as the frontrunner to succeed Kitui Central MP Dr. Makali Mulu in 2027 — a development that has sparked serious political chatter and growing momentum around his possible bid.

With today’s statements, NLP has thrown down the gauntlet. The message is loud and clear — they are here to disrupt, demand, and deliver.
